Creating beautiful writing using the ancient art of calligraphy has held a fascination for people for thousands of years. Des Meade of The Calligraphy Scribe, is a Carrigaline-based calligrapher, who has had a long successful career as a graphic designer, calligrapher, illuminator and lettering artist. Des recently had a part in the major film Bonhoeffer – Pastor Spy as the calligrapher, Scrivener. He has completed many calligraphy commissions and is passionate about passing on a love of the art to others.

This workshop will give budding scribes a taste of how to prepare and create a calligraphy piece, including an illuminated capital letter, using a broad-nib pen and inks.
