Claire Adam and Neil Tully in conversation with Mairéad Hearne

The two authors discuss exploring recent history in fiction, including when and how the social, political and legal standards of the past still reverberate today. 

Claire Adam was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago. She was educated in the US and now lives in London with her husband and two children. Golden Child was her first novel. It won the Desmond Elliott Prize, the McKitterick Prize, the Authors Club Best First Novel Award and was named one of BBC’s 100 Novels that Changed the World. Love Forms was published in 2025 and longlisted for the Booker Prize. 

Neil Tully is a writer from the west of Ireland. He has won several prizes for short fiction and holds an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Limerick. His debut novel, The Visit, was published in March 2026.
